Crowd Dynamics were appointed to advise the organising committee to address Police objections to the concurrent "Open Air in the Square" Event featuring Simple Minds and the traditional Fireballs ceremony, both due to be held on Hogmanay 2013/14. 

The team identified the safe capacity of the events, working with the organisers of both events to plan entry and event finish times and operational aspects to minimise the risks of conflicts in crowd movement. The plan encompassed access to taxi ranks, coach and private vehicle parking and provided clear routes for emergency services’ vehicles. 

The team presented the approach covering crowd ingress, circulation and egress at the license hearing and the licence was approved.
