Freshfields Head Office

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Client: Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer

Sector: Buildings

Location: London, England

Year: 2010

Crowd Dynamics were commissioned to model the entrance area lift usage and staff/client movements in the head office building of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London. Crowd modelling techniques were used to optimise the proposed design.

We advised on a recommended level of service for the building and used the models to show that this was not exceeded in the peak times, based on existing counts of building usage, statistics derived from entrance gates and forecasts.

Recommendations were made on the location of staff entrance gates and reception desk to maximise even usage of space, and to minimise conflicts between staff and clients. The number of entrance gates was optimised for the available space and staff numbers and the revised use of lifts between floors. The work reduced the risk for senior staff members in choosing a new design for the highly used and prestigious building.
